CSIR-IMMT Develops Eco-Friendly Refractory Bricks from Bauxite Waste
Researchers from CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology in Bhubaneswar have developed refractory bricks using bauxite mineral waste. These eco-friendly bricks can withstand temperatures up to 1,400 degrees Celsius, making them suitable for various industrial applications, including in the coke oven and glass industry. This innovation addresses the significant challenge of mining waste management in India, particularly in mineral-rich regions such as Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Goa.
