CSM Secures Over $1.7 Million for Aviation and Water Treatment Programs
The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) will receive over $1.7 million in federal funding for a new Aviation Maintenance Technology Program and a Water and Wastewater Treatment Program, as part of the FY2026 Appropriations Package signed on February 3. The funding includes $997,000 for the aviation program and $732,000 for the water treatment initiative, aimed at addressing workforce needs and creating career pathways.

The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) is set to receive more than $1.7 million in federal funding allocated through the FY2026 Appropriations Package signed on February 3. This includes $997,000 for the Aviation Maintenance Technology Program, which will prepare students for careers in aircraft maintenance, and $732,000 for a Water and Wastewater Treatment Program Partnership aimed at enhancing training and employment opportunities in the water industry.
The aviation program is expected to launch in fall 2027 and will be the first of its kind in Maryland, with approval from the Maryland Higher Education Commission. Funding was supported by U.S. Senators Angela Alsobrooks and Chris Van Hollen.
