Cuban Delavida Project Implements Circular Economy Model for Soap Production

SOLAR ENERGYCIRCULAR ECONOMY & RECYCLING

The Delavida Local Development Project in Ciego de Avila, Cuba, converts more than 20 tons of beef tallow and used cooking oils from restaurants into raw materials for hygiene and beauty products. This circular economy initiative reduces waste, utilizes byproducts for animal feed, and reintegrates defective products into the manufacturing process.

The project has installed a photovoltaic system to reduce energy costs and promotes environmental sustainability through container recovery and biodegradable packaging. It collaborates with local hospitals for public health benefits and has developed a product line of 53 items since its inception in 2021. Delavida aligns with national strategies for a Transition to a Circular Economy.
