Culvert Replacement on US-41 in Keweenaw County to Begin in August
A $330,000 project to replace culverts on US-41 in Keweenaw County is set to start on August 10, impacting traffic flow.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is set to begin a culvert replacement project on US-41, starting August 10 and concluding by August 21. The $330,000 investment involves replacing old culverts with concrete elliptical structures, including necessary backfill, guardrail installation, slope restoration, and repaving.
A detour will be implemented from August 10 to August 14, redirecting traffic from the M-26/US-41 intersection in Phoenix to Copper Harbor via M-26. Local traffic on either side of the project will remain accessible. This project is anticipated to support three jobs and enhance safety by replacing culverts that have exceeded their service life.
