Cumnock's Meagher Court Begins Retrofit Under £17M CoRE Renewable Energy Project
The Meagher Court housing development in Cumnock starts its retrofit as part of the £17M CoRE project, funded by the UK Government and East Ayrshire Council. This initiative aims to enhance energy efficiency and reduce fuel poverty through various upgrades, including a solar PV array and ground source heat pumps. The project, part of the Ayrshire Growth Deal, will be executed in three phases, with completion expected by Summer 2027.

The Meagher Court housing development in Cumnock is the first to benefit from the Community Renewable Energy (CoRE) project, funded with £17 million from the UK Government and £7.5 million from East Ayrshire Council as part of the £251 million Ayrshire Growth Deal. The project aims to retrofit three blocks of flats into energy-efficient housing, including insulation, a solar PV array with battery storage, and ground source heat pumps.
Total investment includes £3.95 million for energy efficiency measures. The project will be delivered in three phases, with Phase 1 expected to be completed by Summer 2026 and Phase 3 by Summer 2027. Additional funding has been secured for monitoring and evaluation.
