CYPC Assumes Full Operation of Zhejiang Tiantai Pumped Storage Plant
China Yangtze Power Co (CYPC) has taken over the operation of the 1.7GW Zhejiang Tiantai pumped storage power plant, marking a significant addition to its energy portfolio. This facility, featuring the world's highest rated head at 724m, is pivotal for enhancing renewable energy integration in eastern China.

China Yangtze Power Co (CYPC) has assumed full operation and maintenance responsibilities for the Zhejiang Tiantai pumped storage power station, which is now fully commissioned with four generating units. The plant has a capacity of 1.7GW and is anticipated to produce approximately 1.7TWh of electricity annually.
Construction commenced in May 2022, with the first unit online by December 2025 and all units operational by June 2026. This project is significant as it is the first of its kind to achieve full commissioning during China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030).
CYPC's approach integrated construction and operation from the outset, facilitating a swift transition of O&M responsibility. The facility will enhance grid stability and support renewable energy integration in the region. CYPC is also expanding its pumped storage operations in other provinces.
