Cyprus Connects to Greece's AI Supercomputer through Pharos-CY Initiative
Cyprus is launching the Pharos-CY initiative to connect a new data center to Greece's Pharos AI Factory, utilizing the DAIDALOS supercomputer. Approved in late 2025 by Cyprus' Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy in collaboration with EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, this connection will enhance Cyprus's AI capabilities. A smaller supercomputer project in partnership with NVIDIA is also underway. The initiative aims to support local and regional AI development, benefiting various sectors including research and public services.

The Pharos-CY initiative will connect Cyprus to Greece's Pharos AI Factory using the DAIDALOS supercomputer, enhancing AI capabilities in Cyprus. Approved in late 2025 by Cyprus' Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy in collaboration with EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, the project provides essential computing resources for developing sophisticated AI models.
A smaller supercomputer is being built locally in partnership with NVIDIA. This initiative aims to strengthen local and regional ecosystems and is expected to significantly benefit Cyprus's economy, research, and innovation by enabling SMEs to integrate AI solutions and allowing researchers and students to access advanced resources for projects.
