Czech Minister Plans Visit to China Amid Investment Doubts
Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Karel Havlíček aims to enhance trade and investment with China, following previous unfulfilled promises. Despite the push for new investments, skepticism remains regarding the actual benefits based on historical data.

Czech Minister Karel Havlíček plans a visit to China to boost trade and investment collaboration, despite past disappointments. Historical efforts, such as those by former President Miloš Zeman, resulted in minimal tangible outcomes from promised Chinese investments, which totaled 18.36 billion CZK, compared to Taiwan's 21.6 billion CZK that created significantly more jobs.
Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute has opened a training center in Prague, emphasizing the growth of technology and international cooperation. There are concerns that Havlíček's approach may echo Zeman's unfulfilled ambitions, risking taxpayer funds on another unproductive trip. Pragmatic investment strategies are crucial to avoid further economic ties that could divert the Czech Republic from democratic alliances.
