Singapore and Taiwan to Enhance Cooperation in Semiconductors and Education
Singapore aims to strengthen its partnership with Taiwan, focusing on semiconductors, education, and startups. With Taiwan becoming Singapore's largest trading partner in 2025, valued at S$170 billion, this collaboration could significantly impact regional supply chains and talent development.

Singapore's Representative to Taiwan, Foo Teow Lee, announced plans to deepen cooperation in key sectors including semiconductors and education. In 2025, Taiwan emerged as Singapore's largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching S$170 billion.
Singapore's semiconductor production accounts for 10% of the global supply, and collaboration is planned with Taiwanese firms like UMC and MediaTek to enhance the integrated supply chain. The agreement to prevent double taxation is also under consideration.
Additionally, both parties aim to expand educational exchanges and AI collaboration, and Singapore supports Taiwan's potential accession to the CPTPP, pending member consensus. This partnership may open new market opportunities in ASEAN.
