Daikin and GridShare Japan Launch AI Service for Solar Water Heating Optimization
Daikin Industries Ltd. and GridShare Japan Co. have introduced an AI-driven energy management service aimed at optimizing solar water heating. This initiative is critical for enhancing self-consumption rates of solar energy in households, thus reducing dependency on grid electricity and lowering costs.

Daikin and GridShare Japan have launched the 'Gridshare Service,' an AI-powered platform for optimizing Daikin's Eco Cute heat-pump water heaters. This service integrates Daikin's remote control with GridShare's AI to analyze electricity tariffs, consumption patterns, and solar forecasts, allowing for tailored water heating schedules.
The AI predicts solar output and electricity demand, shifting heating to times of surplus solar energy while utilizing lower-cost electricity when solar is insufficient. Customers with compatible Eco Cute models can subscribe via GridShare Japan's website.
The service promotes increased self-consumption of solar energy, aligning with decarbonization goals. Both companies are also considering participation in virtual power plant (VPP) schemes. The success of the service hinges on the distribution of Eco Cute units and GridShare Japan’s user acquisition strategy.
