Daimler Truck and KEYOU Collaborate on Hydrogen-Powered Trucks
Daimler Truck and KEYOU GmbH have partnered to develop hydrogen internal combustion engine trucks, with market entry expected in 2027. This collaboration aims to enhance freight transport efficiency and support hydrogen refueling infrastructure in Germany.

Daimler Truck Holding AG has signed a deal with KEYOU GmbH to create hydrogen-powered internal combustion engine trucks, set for market release in 2027. As part of this collaboration, Daimler will provide Mercedes-Benz Actros L 1848 tractor units and 12.8-litre engines, which KEYOU will convert to hydrogen operation.
The resulting vehicle, known as the KEYOU HICE.40, will support a gross weight of 40 tonnes and utilize 350-bar compressed hydrogen technology for a driving range of up to 650 kilometers. Additionally, it will deliver 350 kW of power suitable for freight transport. KEYOU will handle marketing and sales and may assist in developing hydrogen refueling infrastructure, which is supported by German government funding.
