Daimler's reECONIC Truck Incorporates High Levels of Recycled Materials
Daimler's reECONIC concept truck, developed with 32 partners, aims to achieve 80% material substitution with recycled and bio-based materials. This innovation is part of a larger goal to enhance sustainability in waste collection vehicles and reduce carbon emissions by 41%.

Daimler's reECONIC project integrates extensive use of recycled materials in a garbage truck concept, aiming for 80% of materials to be sustainable. The truck utilizes components made from recycled steel, aluminum, and bio-based plastics, significantly lowering carbon emissions associated with production.
Key materials include 88% recycled steel and 97% recycled content in forged steel components. The vehicle incorporates natural-fiber composites and post-consumer recycled plastics, enhancing sustainability.
The engineers also utilized retreaded tires, boosting recycled content further. The initiative exemplifies a circular economy approach in commercial vehicle design.
