Danantara and PTBA Collaborate on DME Project Amidst Government Support
Danantara is advancing a dimethyl ether (DME) project as an alternative to LPG, supported by Indonesia's Ministry of Energy. The project, part of 18 priority initiatives, will collaborate with PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) for coal supply. However, DME's groundbreaking will not occur on the same day as other projects due to the need for further technology assessments. The project aims to enhance energy diversification, with PTBA targeting production increases and value addition from coal. Government backing is crucial for project viability.

Danantara is promoting a dimethyl ether (DME) project aimed at replacing Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG), supported by Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The project, which is one of 18 prioritized initiatives, involves a partnership with PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) for coal supply.
However, the DME project's groundbreaking will not occur alongside others due to the need for additional technology evaluations. PTBA's long-term strategy includes coal-to-DME initiatives, targeting increased production capacity and economic viability through government support.
The transition to DME could enhance value significantly compared to raw coal. Additionally, PTBA plans to engage in various projects to support energy diversification, including coal to artificial graphite and ammonia.
