India is accelerating hydropower development to meet national clean energy targets, aiming to add 51GW of pumped storage by 2032. The Central Electricity Authority has fast-tracked approvals for six major projects totaling 7.5GW in 2024/25 and plans for at least 13 more (22GW) in 2025/26. DANS aims to enhance its technical capabilities and align with international best practices through collaboration with global hydropower leaders.
