Davenport Secures Federal Funds for Wastewater Treatment Plant Flood Mitigation
Davenport is set to receive nearly $3 million from the federal government for flood mitigation measures at its wastewater treatment plant. This initiative is part of a broader flood resiliency strategy aimed at protecting the plant, which serves multiple nearby communities. The project includes the construction of an earthen berm and a pump station to safeguard against rising water levels, with construction expected to begin in 2027.

Davenport will receive nearly $3 million in federal funding for flood mitigation at its wastewater treatment plant, a critical facility serving Bettendorf, Panorama Park, and Riverdale. Flooding poses a significant threat due to increasing rainfall trends in the upper Mississippi River area.
The flood mitigation plan includes constructing an earthen berm and a pump station to maintain operations during high water events. The plant was nearly inundated during the 2019 floods, only eight inches from operational failure. Construction is planned to commence in 2027, alongside improvements to key downtown intersections.
