DayOne Plans Data Center Development in Nurmijärvi, Finland with Fortum Partnership
DayOne, a Singapore-based data center developer, has announced plans for a new facility in Klaukkala, Nurmijärvi, Finland, in partnership with Fortum, aiming for a phased development of up to 560 MW of grid power. The project, which includes preliminary site sale negotiations with the municipality, is expected to create around 1,000 construction jobs and 700 long-term skilled positions, while also incorporating educational and environmental initiatives. Government approvals, including a permit from the Ministry of Defence, are required for the project's advancement.

This project is part of DayOne's commitment to enhance Finland's digital ecosystem, following a €1.2 billion investment in Lahti and a joint venture in Kouvola.
The data center aims for a phased development potential of up to 560 MW of grid power, with construction expected to employ around 1,000 workers and long-term operations creating up to 700 skilled jobs. DayOne has partnered with Fortum for site development support and zoning assistance.
The project requires government approvals, including a permit from the Ministry of Defence. DayOne is also planning educational and environmental initiatives in collaboration with local institutions. Recent financing includes €1 billion from Brookfield and over US$ 2 billion in Series C equity to support expansion in Finland and Europe.
