Debate on Data Center Legislation in Lombardy
Regional council members Giulio Gallera and Jonathan Lobati address amendments to a data center regulation proposal. The outcome will shape operational guidelines for new data centers, particularly concerning compensation mechanisms.

Giulio Gallera has proposed an amendment to a law regulating new data centers in Lombardy, advocating against compensation requirements for operators establishing facilities on decommissioned sites. Jonathan Lobati, president of the Commission on Territory, has submitted 12 amendments, indicating that the legislative process is ongoing and that discussions are still open.
He noted that one amendment aimed at reducing a 50% surcharge on agricultural land has been withdrawn, reflecting diverse opinions within Forza Italia. The final approval by the regional council will determine the future framework for data center operations in the region, impacting regulatory practices and investment strategies.
