Delhi Government Launches Underground Cabling Project in Chandni Chowk to Modernize Power Supply
The Delhi government is implementing an underground electricity cabling project in Chandni Chowk, costing Rs 160 crore. This initiative will benefit 10,000 consumers by removing overhead wires from 28 roads, enhancing safety and power reliability. The project also includes infrastructure for electric vehicles, a new indoor grid, and battery storage systems to stabilize electricity supply.

The Delhi government is modernizing power infrastructure by moving overhead electricity cables underground in Chandni Chowk. The Rs 160 crore project, inaugurated by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, aims to clear 28 roads of unsightly cables, benefiting approximately 10,000 consumers by reducing fire hazards and improving power reliability.
It includes laying 52.5 kilometers of electricity lines underground in partnership with BSES Yamuna Power Limited. Additionally, the initiative incorporates a new indoor power grid and four battery energy storage systems to enhance the electricity supply and support electric vehicle infrastructure.
