Delhi Launches 500 kW Solar Plant to Promote Renewable Energy Adoption
A new 500 kW solar power plant inaugurated in Dwarka aims to significantly reduce electricity costs for residents while promoting clean energy. The Delhi government is actively encouraging households to transition to solar power through subsidies exceeding INR 1 lakh.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated a 500 kW solar power plant in Dwarka, which is projected to decrease electricity expenses for the enclave from INR 12 lakh to INR 6 lakh monthly, resulting in annual savings of approximately INR 72 lakh. The project, costing nearly INR 2 crore, received a total subsidy of INR 100 lakh, with INR 90 lakh from the Central Government and INR 10 lakh from the Delhi Government.
This installation supports the broader initiative to promote renewable energy in Delhi, with Gupta urging residents to adopt rooftop solar systems aided by financial incentives. The project aims to set a precedent for other communities to follow in the adoption of clean energy solutions.
