Delmarva Power Announces Electricity Bill Increases for 2026
Delmarva Power plans to raise average residential electricity bills in Delaware by $15 in 2026, due to increased supply costs. This increase represents a cumulative 13% rise in bills as the utility also seeks a 4% rate hike linked to profit margins.

Delmarva Power will increase average household electricity bills by $15 in 2026, attributing this to higher energy supply costs. In addition, the utility has requested a profit margin increase that could lead to a 4% rate hike in July, although this is subject to regulatory review.
Currently, residential customers pay an average monthly bill of $157, which could rise by approximately $21 with these adjustments. Delmarva Power serves about 344,000 customers in Delaware and is addressing increased demand driven by data centers, which are anticipated to nearly double the state's energy consumption if new facilities are approved. The Delaware Public Advocate has indicated opposition to the profit increase request but not to the supply cost adjustment, reflecting concerns over customer affordability amidst rising energy expenses.
