Denv-R to Commercialize Floating Data Center with Support from TotalEnergies
Nantes-based start-up Denv-R, with backing from TotalEnergies, is set to commercialize an eco-friendly floating data center that utilizes the Loire River for natural cooling, significantly reducing energy consumption. The initiative, which follows a successful demonstrator, aims to provide a low-carbon cloud computing solution and plans to create 12 jobs over the next three years. Denv-R has also secured a €20,000 zero-interest loan from TotalEnergies to support its deployment efforts.

Nantes-based start-up Denv-R, supported by TotalEnergies, is set to commercialize its eco-friendly floating data center cooled by the Loire River. Following a successful demonstrator installed at Quai Wilson, Denv-R will offer a 'sovereign and low-carbon cloud computing' solution.
The demonstrator features four modular data bays with scalable power up to 200 kilowatts, utilizing the river's natural cooling to halve energy consumption compared to traditional data centers. Future units can be deployed in urban areas, rivers, or port zones, leveraging a patented cooling system.
Denv-R has secured a zero-interest loan of €20,000 from TotalEnergies to accelerate deployment and create local jobs. The company plans to create 12 jobs over three years to support the rollout of new units.
