DesertGreener Nears Breakthrough in Solar Desalination Technology Ahead of Cyprus Pilot Test

WATER INFRASTRUCTURE & DESALINATION

DesertGreener, led by CEO Carl Albrecht Waldstein, is on the verge of a breakthrough in solar-powered seawater desalination technology after 18 years of development. The Austrian CleanTech firm has completed crucial thermodynamic simulations at the Fraunhofer Institute and received an encouraging company valuation.

A pilot system will soon be transferred to Cyprus for testing. On March 18, 2026, 100 selected supporters will preview the system near Vienna before its relocation. Waldstein emphasizes that this technology aims to provide clean water and support agriculture, industry, and tourism in water-scarce regions.
