Development of Custom PCB Breadboard for DC Pump Control with ESP32

WATER INFRASTRUCTURE & DESALINATION

A custom PCB breadboard was developed for a project requiring multiple DC pumps to transfer liquid between containers. The PCB incorporates a dedicated SOIC-8 footprint for an AO4406 MOSFET, enhancing reliability compared to traditional breadboards.

It features a USB Type-C power input, an M7 diode for protection, and footprints for both SOIC-8 SMD ICs and addressable WS2812B RGB LEDs. The layout allows manual connections between unconnected pads, mimicking a traditional breadboard for ease of use.

After finalizing the design, Gerber data was submitted to NextPCB, and PCBs were received within a week, featuring a yellow solder mask and white silkscreen. The author also highlights the benefits of HQDFM software for design verification and mentions NextPCB's Accelerator campaign offering free assembled RP2040-based PCBs to support innovative projects.
