DEWALT and August Robotics Launch Fleet-Capable Downward Drilling Robot

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

DEWALT and August Robotics unveiled a fleet-capable downward drilling robot to expedite data center construction. The robot can drill up to 10 times faster than traditional methods, saving 80 weeks on timelines across 10 projects for a leading tech company.

It achieved 99.97% accuracy in over 90,000 holes drilled. The technology aims to meet rising AI infrastructure demands, with a projected $7 trillion investment in data centers by 2030. The robot is set for commercial release in mid-2026 and will be demonstrated at the World of Concrete trade show in Las Vegas from January 20-22.
