DHL Reports Shift in Solar Logistics as Battery Storage Demand Grows
DHL Industrial Projects CEO Martyn Lawns indicates that the integration of battery storage into solar projects is changing logistics. Currently, about 10% of solar budgets are allocated to battery storage, with systems now exceeding 100 tonnes. DHL's new energy initiative aligns with its 2040 growth strategy, expanding from wind to solar and battery storage. The demand for battery storage is particularly high in relation to solar developments and data centers, as it provides variable power ramping.

DHL Industrial Projects has noted a shift in logistics due to the increasing integration of battery storage in solar projects. CEO Martyn Lawns reported that around 10% of solar project budgets are now dedicated to battery storage, which has become heavier, exceeding 100 tonnes.
DHL's new energy initiative supports its 2040 growth strategy, leveraging experience from over 1,000 wind projects to expand into solar and battery storage logistics. Notably, battery storage is more commonly associated with solar than wind, and it is also being integrated into data center planning for improved power management.
