DHL Supply Chain to Expand Tesla Semi Fleet in U.S. by 2026
DHL Supply Chain is set to expand its fleet of Tesla Semi tractors in the U.S. over the next year as part of its decarbonization efforts, following the delivery of its first unit in December. The company currently operates over 150 battery-electric trucks and aims for 66% of its last-mile delivery fleet to be zero-emissions by 2030, while pausing its hydrogen fuel cell initiatives. Deliveries of additional Semis are expected to begin in the second half of 2026 as Tesla increases production.

DHL Supply Chain plans to add multiple Tesla Semi tractors to its U.S. fleet over the next 12 months as part of its decarbonization strategy. The first Tesla Semi was delivered in December and is based in Livermore, California.
DHL currently operates over 150 Class 8 battery-electric trucks in the U.S. and intends to scale its operations, with deliveries of additional Semis expected from the second half of 2026 as Tesla ramps up production. By 2030, DHL aims for 66% of its last-mile delivery fleet and 30% of its medium- and heavy-duty truck fleet to be battery-electric or zero-emissions.
The initial pilot of the Tesla Semi demonstrated energy consumption of 1.72 kWh per mile while hauling 75,000 pounds. DHL is exploring various zero-emission technologies but currently focuses on Class 8 trucks, pausing its hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle initiatives.
