Digital Realty Launches First Asia Pacific Innovation Lab in Japan to Accelerate AI and Hybrid Cloud Adoption
Digital Realty has opened its first Asia Pacific Innovation Lab in Tokyo, Japan, focused on enhancing AI and hybrid cloud infrastructure. This facility aims to support companies in optimizing their AI architectures and hybrid cloud systems in real-world conditions.

Digital Realty has inaugurated its first Asia Pacific Innovation Lab (DRIL) in Tokyo, Japan, aimed at accelerating AI and hybrid cloud implementation. This facility, established through a joint venture with Mitsubishi Corporation, follows the opening of the initial lab in Northern Virginia in September 2025, with another planned for Singapore in late 2026.
The lab will provide a production-grade environment for local partners to test and optimize AI and hybrid cloud architectures. Over 20 partner companies are already utilizing the lab for infrastructure integration to expedite AI deployment.
As Japan increases investment in AI and semiconductor technology, the lab’s capabilities will support high-density computing workloads, enhancing operational efficiency and system resilience. Key features include high-density AI and HPC testing, energy efficiency evaluations, and hybrid cloud validation, contributing to a global network of DRIL facilities to meet the growing demand for advanced AI infrastructure.
