Digital Realty Secures Building Permit for 26,000 m² Data Center in Bouc-Bel-Air, France
Digital Realty has received approval from the city of Bouc-Bel-Air to build a 26,000 m² data center named MRS6 on the site of a former Decathlon warehouse. The facility will feature seven server rooms and is designed to meet new AI requirements, with power consumption expected to be significantly higher than previous models. A new high-voltage electrical supply will be constructed by RTE to support the center. The project has faced opposition from local residents and environmental groups, but a public inquiry concluded favorably for Digital Realty. Construction is slated to begin in 2026 and be completed by early 2028, with an investment of €700 million.

Digital Realty has obtained a building permit for its 26,000 m² data center, MRS6, in Bouc-Bel-Air, on the site of a former Decathlon warehouse. The facility will include seven server rooms and is designed to meet higher energy demands, consuming 80 to 120 kW.
A new high-voltage power supply will be built by RTE to connect to the facility. The project has drawn opposition from local residents and environmental groups, but a favorable conclusion was reached during a public inquiry.
Construction is set to start in 2026 and finish by early 2028, with an investment of €700 million as part of a larger €5.2 billion investment plan in France. Digital Realty also plans six additional projects in Southern Europe and aims to maintain its leadership in the data center market.
