Digital Valley's Data Center Project in Picassent Faces Bureaucratic Delays for Power Approval
Digital Valley's data center project in Picassent, presented on January 28, 2025, is experiencing delays in obtaining approval from the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (Miteco) for the requested power capacity. The project aims for a maximum capacity of 200 MW, with the first phase seeking over 150 MW, equivalent to powering 70,000 homes.
The initiative could generate 30,000 to 40,000 jobs by 2040. Due to increased demand from other companies for data center power, the project is currently under Miteco's analysis. Digital Valley has submitted necessary clarifications to expedite progress.
The project includes sustainability features and aims to be carbon neutral or negative, with plans for 11.2 hectares designated for public facilities and green areas. While waiting for approval, the company emphasizes that the project will not negatively impact the local community.
