Discovery Bauxite is set to construct a 2.5-million-gallon capacity water storage pond in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Mining and RADA, aimed at supporting farmers in St Ann. The groundbreaking took place on April 10, attended by various government officials.
The project is designed to aid farmers facing drought conditions and is part of a broader initiative where Discovery Bauxite has previously built four three-million-gallon storage facilities. The company plans to develop five additional ponds this year on restored lands, which could significantly improve agricultural planning and productivity. The initiative is seen as a critical development for local farmers who have faced challenges due to water scarcity.
