Divert, Inc. Launches Facility in Longview, WA to Enhance Circular Economy for Food Waste
Divert, Inc. has inaugurated its Integrated Diversion & Energy Facility in Longview, Washington, aimed at processing 100,000 tons of unsold food annually. This facility will generate over 235,000 MMBtu of renewable energy and 450,000 pounds of fertilizers, supporting local agricultural needs and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the Pacific Northwest.

Divert, Inc. has opened a 66,000-square-foot facility in Longview, Washington, designed to process up to 100,000 tons of unsold food annually using advanced depackaging and anaerobic digestion technologies. At full capacity, the facility will produce over 235,000 MMBtu of renewable energy and 450,000 pounds of nutrient-rich fertilizers each year, contributing to local agricultural production and powering over 3,200 homes.
The initiative supports compliance with new organics regulations in Washington and Oregon, aiming to reduce food waste and greenhouse gas emissions by offsetting 23,000 metric tons of CO2e annually. Local leaders highlight the facility's potential for economic growth and job creation in the region, emphasizing its role in building a resilient circular food system.
