DNV Highlights Everllence's ME-LGIA Ammonia Dual-Fuel Engine for Deep-Sea Shipping Decarbonization
DNV discussed Everllence's ME-LGIA ammonia dual-fuel engine, emphasizing its potential for emission reductions and safety measures. The maritime industry is shifting towards ammonia as a low greenhouse gas fuel, with 48 vessels on order. The ME-LGIA engine allows for operation on both ammonia and conventional fuels, supporting the transition to zero-carbon shipping. Advanced safety features and extensive testing have been integrated to handle ammonia's toxicity. Everllence has committed over 150,000 hours to the engine's design and validation since July 2023.

DNV discussed the development of Everllence's ME-LGIA ammonia dual-fuel engine, highlighting its emission reduction potential and safety measures. The maritime industry is moving towards decarbonization, with ammonia gaining traction as a carbon-free fuel option.
Currently, three ammonia-capable vessels are in operation, and 45 more are on order, including seven with Everllence's engines rated at 10-15 megawatts. The ME-LGIA engine operates on both ammonia and conventional fuels, integrating safety features like double-walled piping and real-time digital monitoring. Everllence has invested over 150,000 hours in R&D since July 2023, conducting over 800 tests to ensure performance and safety.
