DR Congo and Republic of Congo Advance Pioka-Tombe Hydropower Project Discussions
Officials from DR Congo and the Republic of Congo met in Brazzaville to discuss the Pioka-Tombe hydropower project, which aims for a capacity of 6.45 GW. Feasibility studies are expected within six to nine months. This collaboration is seen as a significant step towards energy sovereignty and sustainable integration in the region.

Officials from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Congo held talks in Brazzaville regarding the Pioka-Tombe hydroelectric project, which aims for a total installed capacity of 6.45 gigawatts. The discussions involved DR Congo's minister of hydraulic resources and electricity, Aime Sakombi Molendo, and Republic of Congo's minister, Emile Ouosso.
Feasibility and technical studies are expected to be completed within six to nine months. The project is viewed as a major energy collaboration and a preparatory step towards the Grand Inga project, which could achieve an installed capacity between 40 and 70 gigawatts.
