Dr. Ioan Iordache's Hydrogen Policy Mandate Review
Dr. Ioan Iordache's tenure saw significant advancements in hydrogen research reporting within the EU, enhancing participation from newer member states. The development of structured reporting templates and initiatives like 'Hydrogen Valleys' marked key milestones.

During Dr. Ioan Iordache's leadership, the SRG was mandated to produce annual reports on hydrogen research and innovation, integrating individual country submissions into a consolidated document. The first report faced challenges due to inconsistent contributions but led to improvements in reporting formats over subsequent years.
A pivotal initiative was the requirement for at least one 'Hydrogen Valley' project to be located in EU-13 countries. The Ro-Green project, launched in May 2026 with €15 million funding, aims to develop sustainable electric mobility solutions, integrating hydrogen technologies.
Iordache emphasized that investment in hydrogen is crucial, as success correlates with funding and collaborative efforts. He highlighted the need for countries to prioritize research and innovation to transition from emerging to industrialized status. Effective utilization of the €19 billion EU investment in hydrogen by 2030 remains a critical question for Romania's integration into the European hydrogen ecosystem.
