Drakenstein Municipality is investing R175 million to upgrade and expand the Dalweiding 66/11kV substation in Paarl. This project, which began in 2018, is expected to be completed by the end of June 2026.
Once operational, the upgrade will facilitate approximately 2,884 new electricity connections, enhancing the capacity for the Vlakkeland housing development and adjacent regions. The enhancements will improve the reliability of the electrical network, addressing the growing demand for electricity in the area. This investment highlights the municipality's commitment to ensuring energy security and supporting local development.
