Drechtsteden Launches €1.5 Billion Maritime Innovation Program 'De Witt Toekomstpact 2035'
Drechtsteden has launched the 'De Witt Toekomstpact 2035', a €1.5 to €2 billion investment program aimed at enhancing the maritime manufacturing industry and establishing the region as a European shipbuilding innovation hub. Key initiatives include high-tech projects like The Werf van de Toekomst and the Smart Energy Hub Sliedrecht, focusing on digitalization, AI, and energy transition, while fostering collaboration with national and European authorities.

Drechtsteden has initiated a large-scale investment program of €1.5 to €2 billion aimed at advancing the maritime manufacturing industry under the 'De Witt Toekomstpact 2035'. The plan, presented at the Maritime Congress Drechtsteden, focuses on transforming the region into a leading European hub for shipbuilding innovation over the next decade.
It includes four main objectives: high-tech innovation, strategic autonomy, energy transition, and improved performance of the Port of Rotterdam and its hinterland. Key projects include The Werf van de Toekomst, which showcases digitalization and AI in shipbuilding, and the Smart Energy Hub Sliedrecht, featuring a hydrogen hub to support the energy transition. The pact calls for collaboration with national and European authorities to foster innovation and infrastructure development in the region.
