Drechtsteden Launches De Witt Future Pact 2035 for Maritime Innovation with €2 Billion Investment
The Drechtsteden region is implementing the Wennink report and Maritime Sector Agenda through the De Witt Future Pact 2035, proposing investments of €1.5 to €2 billion over the next decade. Announced at the Maritime Congress Drechtsteden on January 27, the pact focuses on high-tech innovation, energy transition, and enhanced port performance.
Key initiatives include digitalisation in shipbuilding, autonomous sailing ecosystems, and zero-emission technologies. The Shipyard of the Future project aims to boost productivity using AI and robotics.
Decarbonisation efforts are supported by initiatives like ZEDhub for zero-emission dredging and the Smart Energy Hub Sliedrecht for hydrogen infrastructure. The pact encourages collaboration among national government, regional authorities, and industry to position Drechtsteden as a leader in maritime manufacturing and innovation.
