Dresden University of Technology to Launch Nvidia-Powered Supercomputer Deneb by 2026
Dresden University of Technology will launch the Nvidia-powered supercomputer Deneb by the fourth quarter of 2026 at its Center for Information Services and High-Performance Computing. The €9.4 million system features advanced hardware, including two Nvidia Grace Blackwell superchips and 184 GPUs, and will incorporate a water cooling system to reuse 97% of generated heat for local heating. The project is funded by the German federal government, Free State of Saxony, and the AI competence center ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig.

Dresden University of Technology (TUD) will deploy a new supercomputer, Deneb, at its Center for Information Services and High-Performance Computing (ZIH). The BullSequana XH3500 system features two Nvidia Grace Blackwell superchips, 184 next-generation GPUs, and two petabytes of storage.
With a cost of approximately €9.4 million ($11 million), the project is funded by the German federal government, Free State of Saxony, and the AI competence center ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig. Deneb is set to be operational by Q4 2026 at the Lehmann Center data center. Its water cooling system will enable 97% of generated heat to be reused for local heating applications, reinforcing TUD's commitment to sustainable research infrastructure.
