Drone manufacturing at Red River Army Depot is advancing with significant federal contracts and local partnerships aimed at enhancing military support capabilities. The establishment of advanced manufacturing for unmanned aircraft systems is projected to generate job growth and attract new industries to the region.

The U.S. Army has awarded an $80 million contract to Hadrian Automation for advanced drone manufacturing at Red River Army Depot, with project completion expected by spring 2027. Altech company received a $13 million federal contract to develop the depot into a hub for unmanned aircraft systems.
Local initiatives, including Texarkana College's specialized curriculum for drone production, are being implemented to support this operational expansion. The project aims to create job opportunities and attract defense contractors to the TexAmericas Center, which spans 12,000 acres adjacent to the depot. The modernization efforts are anticipated to enhance the depot's mission and economic impact in the region.
