DTEK Launches Ukraine's Largest Energy Storage System with US Collaboration
DTEK, led by Rinat Akhmetov, has unveiled Ukraine's largest energy storage system with a capacity of 200 MW, sufficient to power 600,000 apartments for two hours. The €125 million project, implemented with US company Fluence Energy, was completed in six months and aims to enhance energy stability amid ongoing Russian attacks. Energy Minister Svitlana Hrinchuk emphasized the importance of energy storage systems in Ukraine's recovery. Since the invasion, Akhmetov's initiatives have directed significant funds towards military and humanitarian efforts.
DTEK, under Rinat Akhmetov, launched Ukraine's largest energy storage system, boasting a capacity of 200 MW and a total energy storage of 400 MWh. This system, located in Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions, can supply electricity to 600,000 apartments for two hours.
Developed with American company Fluence Energy, the project cost €125 million and was completed in six months, significantly faster than the typical two-year timeframe. Energy Minister Svitlana Hrinchuk highlighted the critical role of energy storage in ensuring stability amidst ongoing Russian attacks. Akhmetov noted that the project is part of a broader strategy for energy independence.
