Dump Trucks Reroute Around Fredonia Due to Resident Complaints During Data Center Construction

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Dump trucks servicing a Port Washington data center construction project have rerouted around Fredonia, Wisconsin, following complaints from residents about speeding and noise. The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office increased patrols on County Highway A after receiving these complaints.

The construction site, a $15 billion project run by Oracle and OpenAI, has caused significant traffic through Fredonia as part of the land-leveling operations. The construction runs 24 hours on weekdays and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.

In response to concerns, deputies are now conducting daily patrols, traffic stops, and deploying speed display trailers to monitor vehicle speeds. While some residents express frustration, others support the construction efforts. Vantage Data Centers, overseeing the project, is reviewing contractor compliance with traffic laws and noise restrictions.
