Dutch Government Allocates €3.9 Billion for Offshore Wind Farm near IJmuiden Ver
The Dutch government is investing €3.9 billion for an offshore wind farm in the North Sea, expected to have a capacity of 1 GW by 2032. This project aims to meet rising electricity demand, despite recent challenges in demand growth and construction costs.

The Dutch government has earmarked €3.9 billion for an offshore wind farm in the North Sea, specifically in the IJmuiden Ver Gamma-B zone, expected to be operational by 2032 with a capacity of 1 gigawatt. The total project cost is estimated at €2.3 billion, with a government subsidy contingent on future electricity prices.
Companies can submit bids in the coming months, with the tender for Gamma-B running concurrently with the Gamma-A zone. Despite previous challenges, including higher construction costs and slower industrial decarbonization, the government is committed to offshore wind expansion as a key component of the energy transition.
