E-Heat Connects Containerized Data Center to Vatajankoski Heating Network in Finland
E-Heat has launched a containerized data center in the Kirkkokallio eco-industrial park, Honkajoki, which is now integrated into the Vatajankoski district heating network, providing waste heat to raise water temperatures to 80°C. This 1MW facility replaces the former Puistotie grate boiler, which will serve as a backup. Additionally, Vatajankoski plans further expansions, including a 1.8MW module in Ivalo by spring 2026, aimed at meeting local heating demands.

E-Heat has completed a containerized data center in the Kirkkokallio eco-industrial park, Honkajoki, Western Finland, which is now integrated into the local district heating network. The 1MW facility will provide waste heat to heat water to 80°C (176°F) for the Vatajankoski district heating network.
The previous Puistotie grate boiler has been shut down and will serve as a backup. Vatajankoski also deployed a 2MW data center in Kankaanpää in 2024, which meets 20% of local heating needs. Last year, they launched a 1.5MW module in Merikarvia. E-Heat plans to install a 1.8MW module in Ivalo, Finnish Lapland, in spring 2026, in collaboration with Inergia Lämpö Oy, covering half of that area's heating requirements.
