Eagle Mine Redesigns Water System, Saving 6,000 Gallons Daily
Eagle Mine's new water management system, developed with Victaulic, eliminates 6,000 gallons of water waste daily. This redesign enhances operational efficiency by stabilizing water pressure, addressing prior issues of pressure fluctuations that disrupted mining activities.

Eagle Mine, the only primary nickel mine in the U.S., has redesigned its underground water distribution system to eliminate 6,000 gallons of daily water waste. The mine faced significant operational challenges due to unreliable water pressures, which disrupted productivity and increased risk.
Following a comprehensive analysis with Victaulic, the mine implemented fixed ratio pressure reducing valves (PRVs) to stabilize pressure across its operations. The innovative system, which includes 16 custom-fabricated PRV stations, ensures uninterrupted flow and significantly reduces water management costs. The redesign has resulted in enhanced efficiency, operational reliability, and a reduction in the mine's environmental footprint.
