Eagle South LLC Expands Augusta Data Center Plans to 2.15 Million Square Feet
Eagle South LLC has announced expanded plans for a data center in Augusta, Georgia, increasing the project's size to six buildings totaling 2.15 million square feet, nearly twice the size of Augusta Mall. Initial plans by T5 Data Centers in 2022 called for four buildings at 1.67 million square feet.
The new development, with an estimated initial investment of up to $2 billion, is expected to create over 600 construction jobs and 160-200 permanent jobs with an average salary of $70,000. The project is set to begin construction in the second quarter of 2026, with expected daily water consumption of 18,000 gallons.
Community concerns include environmental impact, noise, and transparency regarding project details. The Augusta Planning Commission is reviewing the plans, which include a proposed 50-foot buffer zone between the data center and neighboring properties.
