Ecobat has sold its battery recycling and specialty lead operations in the UK to Splitstone Capital LLP, marking its fourth divestiture since May. The sale involves facilities in Matlock and Welwyn Garden City, with financial terms undisclosed.
This transaction aligns with Ecobat's strategic shift towards North America and lithium-ion battery recycling, following previous divestitures in France, Italy, Germany, and Austria. The company aims to enhance shareholder value through this repositioning.
Additionally, Ecobat has expanded its lithium-ion recycling capacity, opening facilities in Germany, Arizona, and England, capable of processing up to 10,000 tonnes annually, with plans to increase to 25,000 tonnes. This strategic move addresses the growing demand for lithium-ion recycling amid competitive pressures in traditional lead-acid markets.
