Ecolab to Acquire CoolIT Systems for Enhanced AI Data Center Cooling Solutions
Ecolab is set to acquire CoolIT Systems for approximately $4.75 billion, enhancing its water-efficient cooling capabilities for AI data centers. CoolIT's new 15kW coldplate technology significantly boosts cooling capacity, addressing the increasing demands of high-density AI infrastructure.

On March 20, 2026, Ecolab Inc. (NYSE:ECL) agreed to acquire CoolIT Systems for around $4.75 billion. CoolIT Systems unveiled a 15kW coldplate design on June 1, 2026, which provides nearly four times the cooling capacity of earlier models, suitable for high-density AI data center environments.
This innovation validates the use of a standard water-glycol coolant at 1.2 liters per minute per kilowatt, supporting system performance in 45°C warm-water cooling setups. The move is strategic as data centers increasingly transition to liquid cooling solutions due to the demands of advanced GPUs and accelerators. This acquisition positions Ecolab to leverage emerging technologies in water-efficient cooling systems.
