EEIDD Approves PILOT for $7.2B Applied Digital Data Center in Louisiana
The England Economic and Industrial Development District has approved a PILOT agreement for a $7.2 billion data center project in Rapides Parish. This investment is projected to generate 200 full-time jobs and significant tax revenue over 25 years, but faces environmental and energy concerns.

The England Economic and Industrial Development District (EEIDD) has approved terms for a Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) agreement for a proposed $7.2 billion data center by Applied Digital in Rapides Parish. The project is expected to create approximately 200 jobs with salaries ranging from $90,000 to $93,000 annually and generate $574.9 million for local taxing authorities over 25 years.
Initial payments of $13.8 million per year will commence during the construction phase, followed by a 25-year payment period starting at $24 million annually. However, concerns about the environmental impacts and energy consumption of such facilities have been raised, especially given the need for new gas power plants to support it. The project is not finalized, pending state certification and an EEIDD vote on the final cooperative endeavor agreement.
