EGENCO Resumes Power Production at Kapichira Hydro Power Station
EGENCO has restarted operations at Kapichira Hydro Power Station, generating 32.4 megawatts with plans to increase capacity. This is crucial as the facility has been under repair since damage from Cyclone Anna in February 2022.

EGENCO has resumed power generation at the Kapichira Hydro Power Station, currently producing 32.4 megawatts with one machine operational. The company plans to activate another machine shortly, with a goal of having 3 out of 4 machines running while work on the cofferdam progresses.
The full operational capacity of the station is 129 megawatts. The machines were previously damaged due to Cyclone Anna in February 2022, leading to a significant operational disruption. The restoration of power generation capacity is critical for energy supply stability in the region.
