Egypt Achieves 373% Growth in FDI, Leading Africa in 2024
Egypt has become the leading destination for foreign direct investment in Africa, with a 373% increase in inflows in 2024. This significant growth is attributed to competitive labor costs, strategic trade agreements, and a pro-reform policy environment.

In 2024, Egypt recorded a 373% increase in foreign direct investment (FDI), positioning itself as Africa's top FDI destination, as reported by UNCTAD. Key drivers include competitive labor costs, a network of international trade agreements, and reforms aimed at facilitating private sector growth.
The Ras El-Hekma mega-development project alone attracted over $35 billion in investments. Additional sectors such as renewable energy, logistics, and automobile manufacturing are also contributing to this surge.
New MOUs in green hydrogen and automotive components are expected to be announced in Q3 2025, aligning with Egypt's 2030 economic goals for job creation and export growth. This trend may enhance Egypt's competitive position in the global market, but reliance on foreign investments poses risks amid global economic fluctuations.
